What to do if you knock your tooth loose in Grand Prairie Texas?

Knocking out a tooth is a dental emergency.  You risk losing your tooth if you don’t act immediately.  If you knocked your tooth loose and you are in Grand Prairie Texas, try putting the tooth back in place and come straight to our dental clinic to evaluate your tooth. A knocked out tooth has the best chance of survival if placed back into the socket within 30 minutes.

Procedure you should follow after knocking your tooth out:

  • Do not touch the tooth by the root.  Pick the tooth up by the crown only, which is the chewing surface.
  • Lightly rinse the tooth with water if there is dirt on it.
  • Place the tooth back in the socket immediately.
  • The tooth must be kept moist at all times with the socket in your mouth being the most ideal place.  If that is not possible, place the tooth in a cup of milk.
  • Get to our dental office now.  You don’t have much time to act.
